Vincent “Vamp”Deon Rice was born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 9, 1966, to the late Tom and Ernestine Rice. He was the eldest boy of six children.
In 1984, Vincent graduated from Westinghouse High School. He continued his education at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois, where he studied Computer Science.
In 1992 Vincent married Felicia Cook, and three beautiful daughters were born of this union. During this union, Vincent confessed his faith, dedicated his life to Christ, and baptized at Salem Baptist Church of Chicago under the leadership of Pastor James T. Meeks. Although Vincent and Felicia later divorced, they remained committed to their daughters.
Before the pandemic, while helping to care for his late father, Vincent attended Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Bernard Bloom Clark.
Vincent was a loving, loyal, and hard-working man. His professional career included positions with Harris Bank and Computershare Investor Services. Combined, he served these organizations for more than thirty years.
Vincent loved sports, particularly basketball. Over the years, he organized and played on charity and locally competitive teams, including the Enforcers and the Midnight Basketball League. He was known as a fierce competitor who loved the game. He was a die-hard Cubs fan and also enjoyed hockey and football. Vincent never met a sport he didn't like.
On February 13, 2022, Vincent was called home to be with the Lord. He leaves to mourn his three daughters, Racheal, Maya, and Mary Rice: five siblings, Sheila Price (Daryl), Jackie Coleman (Jerry), Keith (June), Ronald (Kaleelah), and Donald (Paulette), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers.
Vincent, your sweet, quiet spirit touched all who came to know you, and we will miss you dearly. Rest well, tireless soldier.
