Anthony Taylor and Margaret Catchings were blessed with Venice Lamar Catchings on October 23, 1974 in Chicago, IL.
Venice attended Howe Elementary School and Austin High School. He later obtained his High School Diploma from Job Corps. Venice loved to learn and went on to take classes at The University of Phoenix. He was extremely intelligent.
Venice was baptized and was a member of Stone Temple Missionary Baptist Church on the Westside of Chicago under the leadership of Pastor Derrick Fitzpatrick.
Venice who was affectionately known as Vennie was a family man, he truly loved his entire family. Vennie was a jokester and loved to make people laugh he was very funny. Vennie loved to dress nice and look good. He always made sure he was “funky fresh” which was a phrase he loved to say along with “word up” and “cold chillin”. Vennie was a lot of fun and a joy to be around.
Venice made his transition to be with the Lord on January 12, 2023.
His Great Grandparents Mattie and Arthur (Papa) Byers, his Grandparents J.C. and Geneva (Madea) Catchings, his Daughter Ciara Ford, his Cousins Gary McLaurin and Geremie Catchings, and his Auntie Faye McLaurin all preceded him in death.
Vennie leaves to cherish his memory: his Mother Margaret Catchings, his father Anthony Taylor, 2 Sisters Denina Taylor and Shanene Taylor, 1 brother Joseph Catchings (Kaninia), 3 children Jasmine Catchings, Venice Catchings Jr., Shamiya Catchings, 2 Grandchildren Makiya Ford and Terrance Ford, 2 Nieces Emoni Catchings and Daija Taylor, 2 Nephews Damarion Williams and Juell Belton and a host of aunts, cousins, relatives, and friends.
