Tanya L. Hawkins-Otukoya was born on September 22, 1971 in Chicago, Illinois. She was the fourth of six children to her parents, Luther Hawkins Sr. and Army Hawkins, who preceded her in death. Tanya departed this life on January 13, 2022 to forever be with the Lord.
Tanya obtained her high school education at George Westinghouse Vocational High School.
Tanya confessed and accepted Christ at Unity Fellowship MB Church on June 17, 1984 under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Charles B. Williams, Jr. and remained a faithful member.
Tanya enjoyed a career in the health care field as a CNA and was employed with Addus Home Care. Her jovial spirit, charm, concern and passion for helping people made her loved by many, young and old. Her clients treated her as part of their families.
Tanya leaves to cherish her memories: Husband Olalekan (Ola) Otukoya, daughters: Tanika Hooks, Ericka McKinney; sons: Demonte Hawkins and Joseph McKinney; granddaughter Niy’Lah McKinney new grandson Koda McKinney; sister: Gwendolyn M. Hawkins, brothers: Luther Hawkins Jr., Dwayne Hawkins, Carlos Hawkins, Darius (Nicole) Hawkins. Special sisters: Patricia Watson, Pawnda Young, LaQuita Maxwell, Jean Beasley, Deneen Scott, Linda Humphrey; Honorary “mamas”: Katie Lewis-Vlna and Velina Manning and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
