Stephanie Almond Obituary

Stephanie Almond was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 19, 1972, to Carlan and Leroy.  Stephanie grew up on the Westside of Chicago. She gave her life to Jesus Christ and was baptized in her youth.  She loved God and she loved people.  She expressed that love in acts of care, kindness, compassion, and charity to others.  She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister and friend.  She was actively involved in the daily rearing and development of her children, Christopher and Elayah.  She kept a loving and supporting relationship with her god children: Krystal, Jaswava, Malucy and Willam.  As a working mother, she also found moments to enjoy her life with a dance or a song.

As a young child, one of Stephanie greatest joys was to know that she had a little brother coming into the world.  The moment she met Anthony, it was a God connection. She was his special person who took him and picked him up from elementary school;  as well as made his favorite sandwiches.  Stephanie continued to encourage and mentor her younger brother throughout his adolescence and young adult life.

Stephanie  attended Holy Trinity Elementary School and Providence St. Mel College Preparatory High School.  She  moved on to graduate from National Louis University.

After graduation, she obtained employment at Haymarket Center as an Addiction Counselor. Following Haymarket, Stephanie acquired a position as a Child Welfare Worker with Catholic Charities. Next, she was a Counselor at the Transitional Living Career Institute. Later, she started at the Department of Human Services as a Case Worker, then a  Human Service Caseworker Manager, and subsequently,  achieved a position as an Assistant Public Service Administrator.  Indeed, in all her endeavors, it was clear that  Stephanie’s purpose was to serve humanity.

Stephanie leaves to cherish her memory: her Son: Christopher; her Daughter: Elayah; beloved Mother: Carlan Franklin; Brother: Anthony Wade (Sheena); Uncles: Craig Scott and Kenneth Scott; Sister-cousins: Jorie and Robin, and a host of other cousins and friends.
