Peggie Lee Booker

Peggie Lee Booker was born on April 7, 1950 to Ester and Margaret Taylor in Rankin County Jackson Mississippi. Peggie was the sixth child of ten. She was affectionately named Pee Wee by her eldest sister Margaret Ann. Peggie was moved to Chicago at an young age. She attended and graduated from John Marshall Highschool in 1968. As a teenager she met and dated her love Joe W. Booker Sr. On April 6 1968 she wedded him and was married for 40yrs until his death in 2008. From their union they produced three children Joe Jr., Angel and Kimberly.

Peggie worked for several banks of the years. She started at Continental Bank which changed to Bank of America and Lasalle just to name a few. She worked as a check analyst clerk (check fraud department). Peggie worked for over 30yrs in the banking field until she retired.

While retired Peggie and her best friend of 30 plus years Ms. Carolyn Honeywood whom she met while working at Continental Bank. They had their routines on how and what they would be doing for that day whether it was riding the number 3 King Drive bus to go downtown, out to eat, head to the movies or go to Macy’s. They would call each other just to talk about their favorite television shows and discuss how what or who was getting on their nerves from that episode.

Peggie departed this life on October 10, 2020. Peggie’s Husband Joe W. Booker SR., Mother and Father Ester Sisters Margaret Ann Baker, Minnie, Betty Jean and Barbra Taylor. Brothers Sonny and Eddie Taylor. Sister in law Rose Booker all preceded her in death.

Peggie leaves behind to carry on her legacy are her three children Joe W. Booker Jr., Angel Booker Green (Antonio Hopkins), Kimberly (Tim Farris). Twelve Grand Children Antho-ny Hawkins, Emanual (Ja’Klya) Booker, Branden, Jalesa, Chalesa Booker, Robin (Joshua) Brown, Jeremy (Ashley) Booker, Daniel Green, Halina kennedy-Booker, Jerimiah and Jerimisha Booker and Bree Tiana Hopkins. Sixteen Great Grand Children Ja’Noah, Jahl-ias, E’yanni, Ja’Ryan, Bryce, Leyah, Khyan, Nehemiah, Nilah, Jerimiah, Vivian, Sophia, Julian, Jaxon, Dayveon and Josiah. Two sisters Bretha Mayes and Joyce Smith. Brother Russell Phillips Jr. Step Father Russell Phillips SR. Mother in law Mary Orsby Two sister in laws JoAnn and Chritie Orsby. Four brother in laws JC, Josh, Jackie and James Orsby. Two Honorary Daughters Mercy Bennett and Denis Taylor Lewis. And A host of nieces and nephews and friends that loved and will miss her.
