Ms. Oteasia Evans was born in Bolton, Mississippi to the proud parents of Dan and Mariah Carter. She excepted Christ at an early age. Oteasia worked at Leaf Brand for many years.
Oteasia and John were married on August 12, 1943, and made their journey to Chicago on November 15, 1944, to start their family. To this union seven children were born four of which preceded her in death: John Jr., Hubert, Howard, Melvin. The love of her life John A. Evans preceded her as well.
Oteasia was a faithful member of the Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church and served on the Mother’s Board Auxiliary and was the Church Clerk for 30 years. Oteasia later joined Faithlife Church under the leadership of Bishop Alfondia Reese. Where she served as a dedicated mother on the Mother’s Board.
On January 11, 2022, Oteasia went home to be with Lord.
She leaves to mourn two daughters: Sandra (Willie) Saulsberry and Patricia Evans; A son: Walter Evans; Three daughters-in-law: Doretha Evans, Gale Evans, Marene Evans all of Chicago, IL; twenty grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
