Mrs. Monnie Lee Buford’ Jackson “Mona” was born September 10, 1958 in Tunica, Mississippi to Eulla L. Buford and Napoleon Buford Sr. She attended the public schools of Tunica, Mississippi. Monnie professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Saginaw Michigan where she was a dedicated member. Monnie was united in Holy Matrimony to Don Lee Jackson, on September 8, 2013.
Monnie was known for her great soul food cooking skills, and the members at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church loved her dishes. She was also a cook at “Kayla’s Kitchen” a soul food restaurant in her hometown, where everyone (family & friends) loved her dishes. She loved to plant fruits and vegetables in her huge garden, she also loved singing, and going fishing with her family. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, Monnie was loved by many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as her garden that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She quietly departed this life Sunday, January 5, 2019 in Saginaw Michigan.
Monnie was preceded in death by her father, Napoleon Buford Sr., brothers, Robert Buford, Milton Buford, Napoleon Buford Jr., and Henry Buford, God daughter, Shanetta Franklin; and her grandson that she loved dearly, Robert Freeman Jr.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Danny R. Buford, Theresa A. Lumpkin, Latonya R. Buford, Sonya R. Buford, Eulla L. Buford, and Sean D. Buford; mother, Eulla Lee Buford; Godchildren, Alfonzo Franklin, Melissa Franklin, Lanetta Franklin, Georgina Franklin, Elbert Franklin, and Vanessa Franklin. A host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Alonzo (June) Buford, James Buford, Eddie Buford, Gilmer Buford, Senarch Buford; sisters, Magnolia (Nola) Buford, Christine (Chris) Buford’ Jackson, Alma (BeBe) Buford, Shirley Buford, Joann (Ann) Buford, and Brenda Buford; devoted son in law, Antoine Smith; a devoted friend, and father of her children Benjamin (Ross) James; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
