Michael A Bender

Michael Bender was born December 6, 1952, in Chicago, IL to Richard Smith and Sarah Bender.

Michael was affectionately known as "Mike". He accepted Christ at an early age and joined True Temple of Apostolic Faith Church under the leadership of Rev. S.L. Johnson. He attended Faraday Elementary School and later John Marshall High School.

Mike was a loving person. He looked out for others even when he didn't have anything to give.

Mike was a jokester. You could always count on him to put a smile on your face. His sense of humor could brighten anyone's day. He had a way of capturing your heart. If you knew Mike, you knew he loved to play the lottery. He always said that when he hit big, he was going to take care of his children and grandchildren. Mike was a family man. He enjoyed the time he spent with his family. Family was everything to him. Mike was so full of life and was a joy to be around. He will truly be missed.

Mike departed this life on April 12, 2020,  at Loretto Hospital.

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Smith and his mother, Sarah Bender. Three sisters, Ira, Pauline, and Mildred Bender. One brother Jimmy Lee Bender.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Arie Johnson. Five daughters Ira Bender, Latonya Brooks, Angela Brooks, Michelle Gordon, and Angela Diehl. Four sons, Demetrius Streeter, Michael Brooks, Anthony Gordon, and Brat Day. Nineteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
