Katie Hope Ellis-Brown the oldest daughter of Annie Mae and Robert Hope was born in Meltonia, MS on August 4, 1926.
Katie later moved to Chicago in August of 1940
Her parents, husband Henry Brown, six siblings: Jennie, Christine, Catherine, Lee Curtis, Marie, and Roosevelt all preceded in death.
Katie confessed her hope in Christ at an early age and attended the Union Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J M Royston.
Katie became a member of F.B.I.C. in 1962 under the leadership of the late F. P. Piper. Later on, in June 1962 she joined the nurses. She was also a member of GMWA both nationally and locally under the leadership of James Cleveland for over 30 years.
When Katie became ill Ora’ Lisa fondly known as “O” became the sole provider of all her care and assisted by “Bro Bones”.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Two sons: Laprell and Leroy; A daughter: Artisha; Five grandchildren: Deion, Ora’Lisa, Brianna, Trenton, and Jalen; Two great grandchildren: London and Landon; A sister: Ora Echols as well as many other family members and her church family.
