Josie Crout Obituary

She was an angel in disguise to say the least and born July 17, 1940. This cancer lived up to the true meaning of her zodiac sign and possessed such a sweetheart. Josie's parents, Joseph & Hattie Baker resided in the small town of Leflore County, Mississippi. At an early age, Josie relocated to Chicago, Illinois and was then raised by her oldest sister, Barbara Williams.

She attended public school and gave her life to Christ at a young age. She sounds perfect right? Indeed, she was perfection in our eyes. One day cupid's arrow struck her heart and the heart of a brilliant man that she would fall head over heels for, Sidney Lee Crout.

Those two love birds Wed and were married for many years. Within the beautiful union they shared, they created 8 children and adopted 2, expanding their family with an overflow of love. Josie was the matriarch and strong backbone that binds us all together. Her unique sense of humor and loving spirit is truly one of a kind and will forever be missed.

Josie was everything to everyone and instilled us with so much guidance and love. She volunteered at many places and often gave her last, becoming a blessing to those who crossed her path. Our queen lost her battle to Dementia and Alzheimer's, gaining her golden wings on February 07, 2023 at 4:50 AM, surrounded by love at Meadowbrook LaGrange Rehabilitation Facility.

Proceeding her in death was her amazing husband and love of her life, Sidney Lee Crout. Also, her four beautiful sisters, Belinda, Linda, Barbara and Martha. Her four overly protective brothers, Charlie, Sylvester, Roosevelt and Frank.

Josie was such an amazing woman, loving mother, caring sister, Grandmother, Great and Great-Great grandmother, Aunt, Great-Aunt, and best friend.

Her strength, her courage, her brilliance and beautiful soul will be truly missed. She was the definition of pure greatness. She taught each of us life long lessons that we will continue to carry with us each and every day.

Josie leaves to cherish her precious and unforgettable memories, Dorothy, Ida (Cooper), Fredrick (Alicia), Jackie (James), Billy (Estella), Cynthia (Leon), James (Evangelic), Theresa, Joselyn, and Tandy.

Her brother, Tony Tidwell, 34 Grandchildren, 30 Great-grandchildren,

11 Great-Great Grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
