Johnnie Lee Telley was born October 31st, 1942, in Enid Mississippi.
Johnnie was the sixth child born to the late Sam and Victoria Telley. Johnnie departed this life on February 18th, 2025, at Methodist South Lake Hospital following a long battle with cancer.
Johnnie was educated in Charleston, Mississippi. He found Christ at a early age at Persimmon Church in Enid, Mississippi. He moved to Chicago in 1968 where he would later marry Immogene Telley and father one child, Tykesha Telley-McCall. Johnnie worked as a machinist at U.S. Scrap Metal in Chicago for several years. He also worked for Redd's Tree Services as a tree cutter.
Johnnie loved reading his bible. He would sing and dance and play the blues on his guitar. He loved cooking and spending time with his family. He loved animals and enjoyed long walks.
Johnnie cherished teaching his grandchildren and telling them stories. He was famous for his baseball caps and his nickname "Uncle Bud" given to him by his nieces. Johnnie was carefree and loved to play checkers. He would often laugh and tell jokes with friends and family.
Johnnie's daughter meant the world to him. He called her "Boo" and said she was his greatest creation. "I don't know what I would do without my Boo" he would always say. You could often find him surrounded by his grandchildren, to him he was the richest man in the world.
Johnnie is preceded in death by his parents: Sam and Victoria; and 5 older siblings: Freddie Mae, Willie, Charlie, Florida, and Rosie. He is survived by his sister: Freddie; Brother-in-law and close friend: J.D.; Ex-wife: Immogene; Daughter: Tykesha (Patrick); his grandchildren: Tyrin, Tyler, Tyiana, LeAndria, Tyrick and Tyrese; Brother-in-law and best friend: Issac Diggs. Alongside his two nieces he had a special bond with Sonja (Babydoll) and Isola. He leaves a collection of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to cherish his memory.
