Donald Edward Fenrick was born to parents Robert and Mayzell Fenrick on October 9th, 1949 in the city of Chicago.
Donald attended Farragut High School on the West Side, but his stay was disrupted by the Vietnam war. He enlisted into the United States Navy and served primarily at the Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville, Fl. as an aviation mechanic. After leaving the Navy and returning to Chicago, he earned trade certificates at Washburne Trade School while simultaneously employed at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center.
Later, in life Donald continued his education by receiving his GED at Harold Washington College. He joined the famous Mac Arthur’s Restaurant in 1998 where he stayed until 2008.
In his twenties, Donald was highly active becoming an avid tennis player later becoming a huge fan of the sport. He played the bass guitar with his band “From Within”. He was a talented musician with the gift to recreate any tune by ear; From Within was once a candidate to become the band behind music recording artist Prince. He was also a proud and inspiring movie critic.
Donald was a friend to many as well as a fond and admired uncle, great uncle, and father figure. Donald never had biological children, but he had a wealth of fatherly advice for anyone that was ready and willing to listen and learn. Donald was loved and will be missed dearly.
Donald Fenrick passed away on March 28, 2021, age 71, at home with family. Donald was preceded in death by parents Robert and Mayzell, sisters Greta and Jackie, and brother Bobby Fenrick(s).
Donald is survived by his Ex-Wife Stacy, sister Mary (Brother-in-law Bennie Pearson Jr); Cousins Larry and Jerry Powell; a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and his good friends Diann and Karen.
