Cynthia Diane Davis was born on January 18,1956 in Chicago, IL. to Willie (who preceded her in death) and Princess Davis. Diane was their first daughter of four children. Diane attended Horatio N. May elementary school. She also attended Austin High School where she graduated in 1975. Diane was the choir director at Church of God Pentecostal under the leadership of the Late great Elder Elijah Davis.
Diane always had a passion for directing and singing in the choir. She could really make anyone sing. Her next passion was cooking. Diane could out cook anything or anybody, and never had any problem telling people what to do in the kitchen. In 1977 Diane met and married Edgar Bailey Jr. and to this union three sons were born. Shawne, Edgar II (who preceded her in death) and Ethan. Diane later moved to Bloomington IL, where she worked at Cub Foods for many years.
If you had the pleasure to meet Diane, you’d love everything about her and if Diane truly loved you, you had a friend for life. As the years went on Diane’s nickname became (Madea), it was our family joke.
On December 29th, God called his child home.
Diane leaves her loving memories two sons: Shawne (Aisha), and Ethan; Mother: Princess Davis; Four brothers: Edward (Mary), Daniel, Willie (Dawn), and David; Two sisters: Poketha and Cassandra. Also, a daughter-in-law: Tanieka Bailey. Five grandsons, seven granddaughters, a great granddaughter, a very special nephew Kevin Davis, a special cousin Enoch, and a Goddaughter Sheritah “Trice” Jackson, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
