Cheryl A. Bolden was born June 23, 1960 in Chicago, IL to the proud parents Dormand and Leona Bolden.
She was the fourth of ten siblings. Cheryl is preceded in death by her mother Leona.
Cheryl was baptized at Progressive Baptist Church under the supervision of the late Rev. Retha Brown. She enjoyed attending church, traveling with the choir and working with the youth. She enjoyed Tuesday Night Family Bible Study, online, as an eager participant. She looked forward to attending and gathering her presentations.
Cheryl was educated in the Chicago Public School System where she attended Daniel Hale Williams Elementary School and Wendell Phillips High School where she graduated in 1978.
An honorary doctorate was bestowed upon her through this journey, where she became affectionately know as Dr. Cheryl Bolden or "Dr. B" to many.
Cheryl worked diligently with the Department of Human Services, with the Division of Foster Care, through which she raised and helped multiple children and families. She served as chairperson for the Illinois Steering Committee for Title I, Parliamentarian for the Region V Title I Parents, chairperson for Spencer Elementary School, May Elementary School, Lathrop Elementary School, Herzi Elementary School Doolittle Resource Center Elementary School and Richard T. Crane High School as chairperson for Title I and Local School Councils. She also enjoyed working with young ladies where she sponsored Sisters Building Bridges and Dance Squad QT Cuties.
Cheryl attended Greater Second Baptist Church, Progressive Baptist Church, Grace Pentecostal Church, Healing Temple, Harmony Community Church and Greater Whitestone Missionary Baptist Church all churches of Chicago.
Cheryl took her peaceful walk with the Lord on January 7, 2024 at Mount Sinai Hospital surrounded by her family and friends.
Cheryl leaves to cherish her fond memories: Her daughters Cherhondala "Punkyn" Bolden, Cher' Lynn British Bolden, her father Dormand Bolden, six siblings Derman (Vera) Bolden, Deon (Lenora) Bolden, Sterling (Kymberly) Bolden, Spencer Bolden, Lonnie (Dawn) Bolden, Christina Bolden, Tanel (Danielle) Bolden, Marcus (Sytaura) Bolden, Tonya Gwen, one grandson, Kenneth Johnson, III, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, godsisters, godbrothers and a host of special family and friends.
