Mr. Charles Hicks was born December 29, 1948 to his proud parents. Robert Green and Cleophus Hicks in Chicago, IL. He was the second of thirteen siblings. Nine brothers: James, Jimmy, Leonard, Paul, Robert Jr., Ricky, Louis, and Michael; Four sister: Lena, Catherine, Lorraine, and Patricia all of Chicago, IL.
Charles met Rena Hemphill in 1965 and they got married 1974 in Chicago, IL. Four children was blessed to this union Charlene, Charles Jr., Jerome, and Yvette Hicks.
Charles loved playing cards, softball, watching wrestling, and collecting movies. Charles enjoyed BBQ on holidays for family and friends. Everyone who knew Charles knowed he was a music enthusiast as well as his love of drag racing in his 1970 Pontiac Ventura named (URK).
Charles worked for Minolta business for 20 years in Chicago, IL. He then went to worked as a messenger until he retired. Charles moved to Gary, Indiana in 2003 to be closer his mother Cleophus Green and sister Lena Posey-Lindsey until God called him home.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Robert Green and Cleophus Hicks; Five brothers: James Hicks, Jimmy Hicks, Leonard Green, Paul Green, Robert Green Jr.; Two sister: Lorraine Green and Patricia Green; Three nephews: Patrick (Tut) Green, Bryan Green, and James Hicks Jr.; Two nieces: Lisa Posey and Cynthia Lewis all of Chicago, IL; A mother-in-law: Rena Hemphill of Champaign, IL; Two brother-in-laws: James Posey Sr. and Elijah Lindsey all of Gary, Indiana; Two great nephews: Quishaun Emory and Orpheus Washington and a great niece: Bryanna Green.
Charles leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife Rena Hicks; Four children: Charlene (Patrick Sr.) Smith, Charles Jr., Jerome, Yvette Hicks; Two sisters: Lena Posey-Lindsay and Catherine (Tiny) Green; Three brothers: Ricky (Geraldine) Green, Louis Green, Michael Green; Nine grandchildren: Keita (Michelle) Hemphill, Kiara (Johnathan) Wright, Patrick (Jerrice) Hemphill Jr., Christopher Hemphill, Tassyana Hicks, Ja-rome Hicks Jr., Heipasia Hicks, and Nicholas Hardrick. Seventeen great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nephews, great nieces, friends, and family.
