Charlene Morgan was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi, May 2nd, 1931, to the late Isom and Ethel Morgan who preceded her in death along with (4) sisters and (4) brothers.
Charlene accepted Christ at the tender age of 9 years old. Charlene became a member of the St. Peters AME Church. Charlene and family later moved to Memphis, Tennessee where she became a member of the Tree of Life M.B. Church. As a member of the church, she sang in the choir and worked on the Usher Board.
In 1967 she moved to Chicago and became a member of Mercy Seat M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Amos Wallace, where she sang in the choir and was the announcing clerk and wore many other hats in the 29 years she served there. She became ordained by the late Pastor Wallace as an Evangelist while under his leadership.
In 1995 she moved her membership Union M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Henry L. Simmons. In the year 2012 Raymond Hillman became her pastor and she served there faithfully. She was the Bible Class Teacher, and the President of the Sick Committee where she served until her health failed.
Evangelist leaves to cherish her memories: Two special nieces: Althea Ray Toolie of Chicago, IL., Evangelist Sonya Tyson (Morris) of University Park, IL.; A Play Niece: Bobby Thurman; A Special Cousin: Carrie Tucker; A Special Granddaughter: Carol Rogan; A Special Godson: Pastor Patrick McCall; Four special friends: Katie Wesson, Mattie Hall, Shirley White, and Gloria Miller; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and friends. Her beloved Pastor Raymond Hillman and the entire Union M. B. Church family along with the Mercy Seat Family.
