Alphonso Mott Obituary

Alphonso Curtis Mott was born to William and Lula Mott(who both preceded him in death) on March 29, 1945 in Logan, West Virginia. He was the youngest of eight children. Lillie Winfrey, William, Walter, Robert, Arthur, Nelson Mott all preceded him in death. Arnold(Linda) of Las Vegas.

After the death of his mother he moved in with his sister who raised him along with her own son Fred McGlothlin(both preceded him in death) after completing school he relocated to Chicago.

Alphonso gave his life to Christ at an early age. He loved sports he played baseball, basketball and football in school.

He worked as a Cook County Sheriff, later he became a Truck and Delivery Driver for Steven Bedding Furniture Co. he left there and went to work for Maurice Mandle a private company where he met some of his favorite athletes such has Walter Payton of the Chicago Bears and Bill Willington of the Chicago Bulls just to name a couple.

Alphonso loved to fish and cook he enjoyed those two things the most it gave him a chance to teach someone something and to show off his incredible cooking skills.

He taught many how to catch fish, clean it and cook it.

He loved more than anything his family. Alphonso was lovingly known as Big Al not just for his stature but because of his big heart. He was known for helping others, be it giving someone a place to stay, feeding someone or encouraging someone.

Alphonso leaves to cherish his memories his wife Petranella whom he married on January 1, 1990, Children one daughter Leslie Mott, Alphonso C. Mott Jr.(Derita), Graig(Dennean)Stewart, Victor Stewart, Melvin Stovall, Brandon and Terrell Harris.

Brother Arnold Mott (Linda) of Las Vegas NV, In-laws James and Joanne Harris who preceded him in death. Sister-in-laws Debra Harris, Sheila(Tony) Patrick, Donna Mott of New York, Johnnie Mae Mott, Brenda Harris who preceded him in death. Brother-in-laws James Jr., and Nicholas Harris, 21 grand children in which one preceded him in death Graig Stewart Jr. and a host of great grands, nieces , nephews and other relatives. God Mother Betty Matthew who preceded him in death. God brothers Vanderbilt Matthews who preceded him in death and Clyde Matthews. God Children Danielle, Donnell, Darrell Matthews and Barbara Jones. Special life long friends Annie Jordan, Mobie Williams, Robert Miller, and Melissa Harris.
