Alonzo Preston Adams, Jr. was born to the parents of Alonzo Sr. and Beverly Adams on Dec. 8, 1968 in Chicago, IL. Alonzo
Preston Adams, Jr. was the oldest son of four children born to this union. Alonzo accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Garfield Park Baptist Church.
Alonzo Preston Adams Jr. attended Smyser Elementary School followed by Steinmetz High School, where he graduated in 1986.
Alonzo was renowned for his leadership and dominance on the football field. He played football for the Pop Warner League in Oak Park, IL. and continued playing throughout his years in high school and beyond.
After graduating from high school, Alonzo enlisted in the U.S.Navy, where he was a trained seaman. Alonzo attended college in California where he became certified as a Substance Abuse Counselor. Upon his return to Chicago, Alonzo held several jobs including working in the HVAC industry and as a forklift operator.
Alonzo led a life marked by dedication, compassion, and unwavering strength. He was a protector and a cherished member of the Austin Community in Chicago. He was known for his generous spirit, kind demeanor, and steadfast commitment to those he loved. Though private in many ways, those who knew him will fondly remember his warmth, his gentle sense of humor, and the depth of his loyalty to family and friends.
Alonzo is survived by his loving family and dear friends who take comfort in the memories he leaves behind. Though his time with us was cut short, his legacy of compassion, strength, and love will endure.
On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, Alonzo went to be with the Lord.Alonzo was preceded in death by his nephew, Terall.
Alonzo leaves to cherish his memories, his children: Alonzo and Christy, his parents: Alonzo P. Adams, Sr. (Lavearn) and Beverly (Allan), his siblings: Denean (Calvin), Troy and Carl (Shequila), his grandchildren: Aniya, Jada, Alonzo Jr., Azaria, Ashad, Laila, Londyn, Brooklyn, Makyla, Chrischelle, and Delani. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
May Alonzo Preston Adams, Jr. rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who were fortunate to know him.
